ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Ali Cooper lives in rural mid Devon, where she embraces nature and the countryside, and keeps chickens and bees. She works mostly in acrylics for stylised painting, and watercolour/mixed media for more naturalistic images and studies. She often paints in a ‘happy palette’ of blue, green, turquoise, and mauve, recreating a fantasy of summer holidays. Coastal locations are a favourite, especially the fossil beaches near Lyme Regis, and the limestone outcrops near Beer Head. In addition to flat surfaces, she sometimes paints on objects such as musical instruments, blending their natural form with images.
Although she has dipped into art college, firstly in the West Midlands, then gaining a qualification from the University of Brighton, her main field of study is archaeology, in which she has a masters degree with distinction from the University of Nottingham. Her favourite archaeology landscape is the environs of the White Horse of Uffington, and this also features in her paintings.
Ali works in creative arts, and her website contains words and music, as well as visual images.
